Picán Restaurant

Operations Manager
December 2015 – February 2017

  • Responsible for the daily operations of an established, and esteemed, community business that produces over $3M+ in yearly restaurant sales revenue by providing leadership, motivation and direction to the Picán team.
  • Hire, train, and supervise a team of over 45 staff members comprised of bussers, servers, hosts, events department and a full bar staff. Work cohesively with team members to meet, and exceed, customer service standards and sales objectives.
  • Confirm that all employees are current with appropriate certifications and are aware of industry standards. Provide on-going trainings for staff members and create an environment of professional growth.
  • Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to create mutually supportive relationships. Develop marketing promotions and sales programs that promote both Picán, and vendor products, guests will enjoy.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations, fire codes and accessibility standards for differently abled guests.

Event Manager
January 2014 – December 2015

  • Responsible for all private & semi-private dining, meeting and celebratory events for Picán’s private clients. Such clients include local Fortune 500 companies based in Oakland, national non-profits, political groups, local sports teams and a wide range of private individuals.
  • Exceeded 2014 sales goal by $80K and reached sales goal of $500K for 2015. These sales include events as intimate as a private 2-person dinner to restaurant buy-outs for corporate and private events in a 120 seat high-end restaurant
  • Produce in-house events to increase sales revenue from inception, ensuring team is properly prepared, to a seamless execution of event. Conduct post-event meetings to discuss best practices for future implementation.
  • Engage with non-profit community partners in promoting local organizations through in-house programs, such as Picán’s Guest Bartender Fundraising and Dine at Picán programs.
